AKC President and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis B. Sprung, announced today that Patricia R. Krause,Assistant Vice President of Companion Events, plans to retire in May 2005. Krause joined the organization in 1999 after 34 years in the sport, including as an obedience judge and director of training at numerous obedience clubs.
The Companion Events department is responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of AKC-sanctioned Obedience, Tracking, Agility and Rally events. In 2003, the department oversaw nearly 140,000 obedience entries, over 1,300 agility trials, and 338 tracking events and planned for the inception of AKC Rally in January 2005. Krause and her staff also plan and execute the AKC National Obedience Invitational and the AKC National Tracking Invitational.
“We will miss Pat and wish her the very best,” said Sprung. ”I know she will enjoy spending more time with her family and her dogs, and we look forward to seeing her at AKC events – now as a competitor.”
The AKC now seeks a Director of Companion Events and is accepting applications for the Raleigh, North Carolina-based position. Candidates should have significant experience in Obedience, knowledge of Agility and Tracking, and a minimum of 10 years’ business management experience.
