Elvira Meucci-Lyons has joined Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, as their new Head of Campaigns.
Formerly working for the NSPCC as Donor Recruitment Manager, Elvira joined Dogs Trust because of her desire to work in animal welfare coupled with wanting to get back into marketing communications.
She joined marketing agency life 13 years ago, working at integrated agencies such as Carlson, BDS-Beechwood and TCA as an Account Director on a broad portfolio of clients including Disney, Coca-Cola and British Gas.
At Dogs Trust, Elvira is in charge of promoting responsible dog ownership, re-homing rescue dogs and the messages of neutering and microchipping across five campaign regions throughout the UK where stray dogs are a big problem - Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, South West Scotland, the North East and North West of England.
She will also be working with local authorities across the UK, organising Dogs Trust’s annual stray dogs survey. This is the charity’s biggest campaign of the year, which highlights how many stray dogs have been collected by UK local authorities and how many have been destroyed each year.
Elvira Meucci-Lyons commented: "My ambition is to see the already successful campaigns programme become more high profile, therefore leading to more people embracing responsible dog ownership and ultimately helping to make a measurable, tangible impact on the unnecessary destruction of dogs."
Elvira herself has two dogs called Iggy and Chilli and two Sphinx cats called Manky and Ozzy.
