James Wellbeloved Symposium

The annual James Wellbeloved Symposium, this year entitled “For the Health of your dog and your Legal Responsibilities”, will be held on Sunday 9th October at the Sports Connexion, Leamington Road, Ryton-On-Dunsmore, nr Coventry.

Over the past five years, these Symposiums have been designed to enlighten their audiences on the many health-related issues that concern dog owners in the modern world. This year is no different and James Wellbeloved have been fortunate enough to engage the services of three leading speakers.

Hilary Self is a fully qualified Medical Herbalist and was awarded the 2003 Nigel Wynn Award by the National Institute for innovative projects in Herbal Medicine, specifically her research into the application of herbs for horses with Cushing’s Disease, a disease also prevalent in some breeds of dog. Hilary’s paper at this year’s Symposium is headed “Medical Herbs, Prevention and Cure for the care of your Canine.”

The second speaker, Jimmy Symmonds, is intent on following the emerging trend in the integration of Complimentary and Conventional medicine into a new “integrated” medicine. A Tutor and Practitioner in Complimentary Veterinary Therapies including Acupuncture, Herbal Medicines and Essential Oil Therapy, Jimmy’s paper will address the benefits of acupuncture when treating specific ailments affecting dogs.

Closing the Symposium will be Dogs Champion and well respected Solicitor, Trevor Cooper who has done more than any other person in the UK to protect dogs whose lives have been put at risk through such circumstances as bad law, wrongly interpreted law, biased opinion and on occasion, hatred of the species. Trevor will be looking at the many new Laws that are being enacted by both Parliament in the UK and Europe and those from Europe that will apply in the UK.

The Symposium will take place between 9am and 5pm. Tickets costing £28 each including a buffet lunch are available from Mike Mullan, Dunsmore Kennels, London Road, Stretton-On-Dunsmore, Warks. Tel: 02476 542566. Please make cheques payable to J.M.Mullan and enclose an A5 SAE.
