The Young Kennel Club (YKC) will be holding its annual grooming competition at Discover Dogs, which takes place at Earls Court 2, London on 12th & 13th November. The contest will take place over both days and the top five winners on each day will qualify for the YKC Groomer of the Year final at Crufts 2006 at NEC, Birmingham.
The competition is open to all Young Kennel Club members, and contestants will each be given a maximum of 2 and a half hours to groom their dog under the watchful eye of a judge, with marks awarded for a combination of good presentation and careful handling. A presentation will be made to the successful entrants in the YKC Ring at the event at 4pm on both days.
It doesn’t matter if a dog is pedigree or crossbreed, long, short, rough or even incredibly curly coated, all that will be required is for the YKC member to present their dog as they would for the show ring.
Discover Dogs is a canine extravaganza, which celebrates all that is good about dogs and all that is beneficial and special about our relationship with them. Visitors have the opportunity to meet and greet over 190 different breeds of pedigree dog and learn more about canine activities. Discover Dogs is not just about pedigree dog - it is about ALL dogs!
To apply to take part in the competition, YKC members can download an application form from the internet; www.the-kennel-club.org.uk or contact the YKC office on 020 7518 1030.
