WAFCOL have sponsored the Cock o’ The North Race at Bellevue for the last 15 years and all the Wafcol team were there on the race night on August 2nd to see Keith Thornton presented with an award to honoured his 20 years of dedicated service and commitment.
Harpinder Buhal, Wafcol General Sales Manager said: ‘Keith is a real asset to any team. He is truly passionate about dogs and all that he is involved in whether that be judging or as part of the expanding WAFCOL sales team.
‘Wafcol has seen many changes over the past 24 months and Keith has played an important role within the competitive greyhound sector.’
During the 1960s, Keith’s passion for greyhounds began when he took to the Greyhound tracks and started judging various races over the decade. When Keith first joined Wafcol in 1986 he started off in the Customer Service team and it was here that he helped to pass on his Greyhound knowledge to the customers by giving them nutritional advice over the phone. After doing this for 10 years Keith came up with the vision of visiting Greyhound trainers across the country and passing on valuable information to them as well as promoting the Wafcol brand.
Outside of work, Keith’s passion has taken him all over the world where he is a well-known face in international Greyhound circles and is commended by breeders and trainers alike. He is a well known judge specialising in the Hound Group and is judging this week at the Welsh Kennel Club.
His commitment and dedication to the rehoming of Greyhounds is ever apparent when, every September in Romford, he helps to judge a dog show purely for re-homed Greyhounds. Rescue Centres regularly benefit from Keith’s generosity as he often donates food to the centres to ensure that they have adequate supplies.
