Obituary - Joan Wells-Meacham


Joan Wells-Meacham died on Friday 3rd October at Hemel Hempstead Hospital. Joan was the President of the BGV Club and with her partner Mildred Seiffert brought the first PBGVs into the UK in the 1970s. These were shown under the Jomil Affix.

Joan was also very well-known for the Famous Fredwell Basset Hounds and prior to that Fredwell Labradors also.

A well-known judge who had judged all over the world and also the Hound Group at Crufts. Joan retained her interest in the hounds at Clipperdown Cottage after moving nearby in 1985.
She had been unwell since just prior to her 90th Birthday in July this year.

Her son Charles and his family live in Spain but her eldest grandson, Billy, had just started college at Hatfield and was a frequent visitor.

The funeral will be on Thursday 16th October at 11:30am at Amersham crematorium, Whielden Lane, Amersham, HP7 0ND, followed by a buffet at The Mulberry Bush public House nearby.
