Finn wows in BGT

Issue: 31/05/2019

Finn, the Police Dog who survived an attack by a knife wielding thug and helped to change the law, is through to the final of Britain’s Got Talent.
He came through the live semi-final with his owner PC Dave Wardell earlier this week and he will feature in the final on Sunday.
Whilst chasing a robbery subject in 2016 Finn suffered from stab wounds to the chest and head as he protected his owner. Under the law at the time the assailant was prosecuted for the attack on PC Wardell but not for the attack on the dog.
In April, after a long running campaign, the law was changed and Service Dogs are now protected by law if they are attacked.
As well as changing the law the German Shepherd performed a mind reading act for the judges and the old timer was joined on stage at the end by half a dozen trainee police dog puppies.
After getting through PC Wardell tweeted, ‘I’m in tears thank you all so so much I honestly don’t know what to say.’
Good luck to Dave and Finn in the final.
