Mike takes Top Dog 2018

Issue: 04/01/2019

Epic year as PBGV sweeps the board

2018 was a truly epic year for the Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit), Ch Soletrader Magic Mike, owned by Sara Robertson (pictured right) and Wendy Doherty, culminating with the Arden Grange/
Our Dogs Top Dog All Breeds award for 2018.
'Mike' was bred by husband and wife team Sara and Gavin Robertson out of their Crufts Best in Show winning bitch Ch Soletrader Peek A Boo. In a glorious 12 month period 'Mike' has beaten all comers at no less than ten All Breed General Championship Shows and a Group Championship Show. His whirlwind year commenced with Best in Show at Manchester in January 2018 followed by WELKS, SKC in May, Bath, Border Union, Hound Association, Leeds, Bournemouth, SKC in August, Richmond and finally the last General Championship Show of the year, the LKA, just three weeks ago. This was his 14th BIS win at an All Breed Championship Show during his three year career in the show ring.
This year, in November, also saw 'Mike' breaking the Breed Record previously held by both his mother and grandmother. He won his 30th CC at the LKA.

Top Puppy 2018

This year we have Joint Overall Winners in the Eden/Our Dogs Top Puppy Competition. Both leading puppies are from the Utility Group. They are, the Akita, Stecal's Remember My Name, owned and bred by Carol and Faye Bevis and Rachael Corr, and the Japanese Shiba Inu, Vormund The Real Slim Shady, owned and bred by Liz Dunhill.
The Akita, Stecal's Remember My Name 'Bri' had a great year, ensuring we all really do remember his name. 'Bri' completed the year with nine Best Puppy in Breed wins, one Best Puppy in Show, one Reserve Best Puppy in Show, Puppy Group 1 on five occasions, Puppy Group 2 twice, one Puppy Group 3, with one CC, one BOB, and an adult Group 1 for good measure - all at Championship shows.

The Japanese Shiba Inu, Vormund The Real Slim Shady 'Shady' started the year winning CC, Best of Breed and Best Puppy at his debut show. Overall in 2018, Shady won five CCs, all whilst still a puppy, taking Puppy Group 1 on no less than three occasions, including Best Puppy in Show at Three Counties and Border Union. This high flying youngster has also done well in the adult groups, winning Group 3 on three occasions at General Championship shows. He has the distinction of being both Top Puppy and Top Dog in his breed for 2018.
