|Show venue sends ‘dog waste’ letter
The South of England Showground has written to all societies who hold shows to ask that the venue be left in a clean condition after shows.
The letter entitled 'Dog Waste' reads: 'As valued clients, I apologise for having to send you all this email, especially to those of you who are considerate and efficient with your dog waste. On a few occasions lately, we have been left with an unacceptable amount of dog waste on the showground following dog events which our grounds team have then had to clear up.
'Please can I ask you all to remind your competitors and visitors that they must clean up after their dogs. Please can you stress that we have many events taking place and it is not very nice or acceptable for events following dog shows to come in to start setting up with dog waste being left around the site.
'If we are required to bring in someone to clean up dog waste following an event, this charge will be passed to the relevant club.
'I thank you in advance for you co-operation.'
One show secretary told OUR DOGS: 'In 40 odd years of going to this venue I have never heard the showground complain so it must have been bad.'
