Suspected dog poisonings

Issue: 31/05/2024

It is suspected that two dogs died after being poisoned at a beauty spot.
They were found battling for their lives after their owners took them for walks to Lindley Wood Reservoir, North Yorkshire.
James Bevan’s dog Winston, and Manni Peacock’s puppy, Bear, both died after walking in the woods.
Mr Bevan’s dog started to deteriorate and became so poorly that there was nothing the vets could do for him and he told Leeds Live: “I don’t really know what life looks like without him yet, he was my whole world. Winston was the best dog you could hope for, I competed with him all around the country, he was loved by everybody, friendly, loved life, loved walking.’
Manni had the same experience as James and she told Leeds Live: “(The vet’s) said he had eaten something very, very toxic. I just sat there holding him, I didn’t want to leave him, I was just in shock, it was like a nightmare. Since then, I have been sharing it far and wide trying to spread awareness so nobody else has to go through this.  I don’t want this happening to any other family.”
North Yorkshire Police said officers were investigating and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
