Blenheim Palace to host Country Fair in 2006

Following the success of the inaugural Country Fair held at historic Blenheim Palace in July 2005, the dates for 2006 have been confirmed as the 15th and 16th July.

Organisers are building on this year’s show to create an even bigger event in 2006. All of the ingredients which made the Country Fair so successful will remain, as will the hugely popular military element held in the purpose-built Churchill Arena. The heart of the fair will move down towards the River Glyme, making the event even more ‘user friendly’ for visitors and creating a wonderful natural arena for the fishing element of the Show.

The Country Fair will feature displays of many aspects of rural life, including: The BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) Arena with its gun dog demonstrations, advice on shotgun safety, ferret and terrier racing, as well as its gun dog scurries and air rifle shooting ‘have a go’ areas.

New for 2006 is the Kennel Club Arena with its wonderfully mixed programme of events including competitions for visitors to enter their dogs into, and heelwork to music.

The Fishing Area supported by the Salmon & Trout Association will see casting demonstrations and ‘have a go’ opportunities.

And the AA will be supporting the Classic Vehicles area which will have a wonderful array of classic cars, military vehicles and traction engines.

Alongside all this exciting activity, the Churchill Arena will be running a full programme of events and displays and there will be Military re-enactment groups ‘camping’ onsite, a ‘Family Fun’ area, with plenty for the children to enjoy. Plus the Shopping Village with a huge range of specially chosen outlets.

In announcing the dates of next year’s event, John Hoy, Chief Executive said “We are delighted to be holding another successful Country Fair within the grounds of the Palace, and hope to stage an even larger and more impressive event in 2006. Blenheim is such a glorious location within which to combine the very best of the countryside with a terrific Military element and we cannot wait to welcome many thousands of guests once more next July.”
